Mountain Preschool is governed by a fantastic Committee of volunteer families and community members and managed by the Director/ Teacher, Donna Shrimpton.

We work together to ensure that your children receive Quality Education and Care and our commitment is undoubtedly 100%. Our preschool operates on a play based program with intentionality, following the EYLF V 2.0 guidelines (Early Years Learning Framework). Our program is fun, flexible and age appropriate. Our Emergent Curriculum is tailored to your child’s individual strengths, interests, abilities and needs and ensures lots of laughs and smiles while children engage in quality learning environments.

Our friendly, committed and long serving staff members are caring and highly qualified. They are open to your child’s individuality as they practice active listening, promote learning through play and have up to date knowledge of EYLF and the regulations that govern Early Childhood Education Services. We are a Sun Smart, Child Safe, family friendly organisation. While with us, your child will have the opportunity to actively explore their environment, challenge their potential, learn to make choices and be responsible for those choices. Their identity and wellbeing is supported as educators apply daily Intentional Teaching Strategies (ITS)  to build on your child’s current knowledge and build on each child’s social, environmental, investigation and communicative knowledge and abilities. This develops critical and creative thinking, literacy and numeracy skills.

Our preschool program is holistic, child centred and family centred. We welcome children aged 3 to 5 YO (Possible start at 2.5 yo).

Why not bring your child for a visit and play, watch our staff in action, and see for yourself how we operate. If our Service is currently full, please call in to place your child on our waiting list.

OUR COMMITMENT TO CHILD SAFETY AND WELLBEING STATEMENT

Our Service is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people. We understand our responsibilities and statutory duty of care to comply with both the NSW Child Safe Standards and the Reportable Conduct Scheme to build our capacity as an organisation to prevent and respond to allegations of child abuse.

Our Service is committed to implementing and abiding by our Providing a Child Safe Organisational Culture Policy based on the NSW Child Safe Standards, which accentuates our zero tolerance for child abuse and raising awareness about the importance of child safety in our Service and the community. The Child Safe Standards recommended by the Royal Commission provide guidance for our Service to ensure our policies and procedures, strategies and attitudes, ensure children’s safety is paramount.

We are committed to the safety, participation and empowerment of all children. We promote diversity and tolerance and aim to form equitable and positive relationships with children. We ensure children participate in decisions affecting them and listen and respect their suggestions and ideas. We respond to any concerns, disclosures, allegations or suspicions of harm (as per MPS Child Protection Policy).

We are dedicated to protecting children from abuse and neglect and promote a child safe environment, maintaining children’s wellbeing. We adhere to our comprehensive Child Protection Policy, standing by our mandatory reporting responsibilities to protect children from physical, sexual, emotional and psychological abuse and neglect.

We work to ensure there is clear awareness between appropriate and inappropriate behaviour concerning adults and children. We require clear precincts between children and employees, volunteers and the community to maintain children’s safety.

We are dedicated to promoting cultural safety for Aboriginal children, cultural safety for children from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds, and to providing a safe environment for children with a disability.

We value diversity and do not tolerate any discriminatory practices.

We are committed to ongoing professional development for educators and staff to maintain their ability to distinguish and respond to situations of abuse and neglect, ensuring educators and staff are responsive to their responsibilities in keeping children safe.

We uphold the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and have confidence in educating children about their right to be safe. We believe in teaching children what to do if they feel unsafe and encouraging them to express their view and thoughts on matters that directly affect them. As educators we listen to and empower children to act on any concerns, they or others may raise which is reflective in our policies and procedures in keeping children safe.
